Breathe clean air. New JABLOTRON thermostats now keep an eye on CO₂

That afternoon slump, heavy head, eyes drooping over your work or your books. Sound familiar? Sometimes it's not a lack of sleep behind it, but stale air. JABLOTRON has the answer.

The new bus models of the JB-112TP thermostat and the JB-112TH sensor measure not only temperature and humidity but also the level of carbon dioxide (CO2). And they make sure you breathe fresh air at home and at work – without having to think about it.

Why is stale air bad for us?

We release carbon dioxide from our bodies with every breath, so its concentration in a closed room with several people quickly rises.

At the same time, our wellbeing and performance decline: raised CO2 levels are often linked to fatigue, headaches, poor concentration and even nausea. While outdoor levels stay around 400 ppm (parts per million), in an unventilated bedroom or a full classroom, it can climb within just a few hours to several times that level.

Yet we can't see stale air, and we often don't notice it straight away either. We tend to put fatigue or headaches down to something else. That's exactly why it pays to let technology keep an eye on air quality and warn you in good time. And if needed, it will start ventilating for you right away.

Healthy living where you spend most of your time

At home, “bad” air catches up with us mainly in the rooms where we spend the most time – the bedroom and the living room.

Both the JB-112TP thermostat and the JB-112TH sensor measure CO2 continuously, and they control ventilation based on it (just as they do on humidity). As soon as the concentration exceeds the set threshold, the system starts ventilating – it increases the heat-recovery output or can open an automatically controlled window. You don't need to think about anything, and you'll have fresh air even while you sleep.

In rooms where you don't need measurement, such as the bathroom, hallway or utility room, you can complete the installation with basic thermostats and get a well-balanced ratio of price and comfort.

Offices, schools and kindergartens: where fresh air is a must

The more people gather in a room, the faster the air quality deteriorates. In offices, air quality affects the whole team's concentration, while in schools and kindergartens even greater emphasis is placed on children's health and their ability to learn.

For public spaces, the JB-112TH sensor is ideal. It has no display or buttons, so no passer-by can interfere with the settings. The temperature and ventilation rules are managed solely by an authorised person (such as a caretaker or building manager) via the MyJABLOTRON 2 app. This means no one can arbitrarily change the settings to suit themselves.

The system can flag worsening air quality at two levels:

  • informational – at an uncomfortable level (by beeping the siren or lighting up an indicator, so that, for example, a teacher knows it's time to open the windows),
  • alarm – at a dangerous level, the system raises an alarm advising you to ventilate immediately or leave the room.

If the building has ventilation equipment, the thermostat will automatically instruct it to increase output. In older buildings, a timely alert to open the windows will help instead.

You'll find the exact ppm value and a graph in the MyJABLOTRON 2 app. On the thermostat's display, it's shown in a simplified form across five levels:

Level Value (ppm CO2) Air quality
1 < 750 Fresh air
2 750–1,200 Slightly elevated CO2
3 1,200–1,500 Satisfactory quality
4 1,500–2,500 Poor air quality
5 > 2,500 Extremely poor air quality

Easy expansion of the JABLOTRON 100+ system

If you have JABLOTRON 100+ security, you're already halfway there.

The thermostats and sensors are a fully-fledged part of the same ecosystem. They make use of the existing alarm infrastructure, so you don't need another control unit or a separate app. You control everything from the single MyJABLOTRON 2 interface, where you can also see your CO2 history. Thanks to the link with the alarm, when the alarm is set, the system also reduces heating and saves energy.

Please note: Both models with a CO2 sensor are only available in the bus version.
